The thought has been expressed by George Eliot, that we start out as little children knowing nothing, yet believing a great deal and we later wind up inverting the quantities by knowing a great deal, but believing nothing. Jesus said that the kingdom of God that we are to enter is tempered for nature of little children but the wise will have an impossibly difficult time navigating that kingdom, because they cannot believe for all their learning, they cannot know the truth.

Before there were any doctrines, you had the Word of God, and before there were any scientific theories you had meaningless facts about the world. Theories are to science what doctrines are to religion. Scientists come up with ideas and try to make the facts fit into their ideas or their theories by often forcing them to fit such theories much like the clergy force the word to fit various doctrines. Where certain facts don’t fit their theories science has no problem dismissing them as irrelevant. The clergy do the same with the word of God. They are totally unconflicted about savaging the truth where they it doesn’t fit their doctrine, or just dismiss it out of hand when they can’t live up to it.

Before there ever was an atomic bomb in man’s possession, or even the means of delivery for such bombs, because there were no airplanes in 1908; yet you had the Tunguska Event

showing evidence of an atomic air blast bomb source 5 miles above the earth, 1000 time the force Hiroshima’s “fat man little boy” that flattened hundreds of square miles of dense mature forest. Strangely enough, no impact crater is found that would indicate a comet crashing to the earth, but the forensic fingerprint of an atomic bomb that matched with uncanny precision that of the Hiroshima aftermath was undeniable. Scientists now feel compelled to offer an explanation for this mysterious fact, but for every assertion there are counter theories. The Tsar bomb is of the greatest destructive strength ever devised by mankind, the pilot who dropped it reported that they barely escaped with their lives, yet this was only 5 times he strength of the Tunguska event which was over 50 years before there was any atomic bombs in man’s arsenal of weapons.

Now you have the clergy with the same pathology as scientists wanting to offer arguably flawed theology, and doctrines to explain Jesus where we fail to live up to his expectations of us. Here is this man of whom his friends exclaimed: what manner of man is this: bringing dead people back to life, bringing peace and calm to the stormy tempestuous sea, drying up trees by a word spoken, feeding multitudes with a few fish and loaves of bread, making wine out of water…walking on water; and expects that we should do the same thing? Today right our the gate the clergy is going to tell you that maybe Jesus did these things, but that was him—we can’t be expected to do them. Well how comes he expected all his disciples to do them and they did, and then told those same disciples to go into all the world and make disciples of those they encountered, and such disciples should be as the master. I personally wan’t to know who dropped the ball, and where and when they dropped it; but that doesn’t really matter now because my generation is up at bat now and either I can make excuses like previous generations or with vehement desire, and violent pressing I can prevail to be and to do in the same manner as the master whose disciple I believe myself to be.

Instead of following the truth to where it leads the clergy has concocted theologies and doctrines as smoke and mirrors that do great violence to the truth, mostly to cover their failings. As such their dogmas have become more important than the very word of God that was here long before any such theologies existed.
