The way of man is much, much greater in scope, and breadth than Darwin could have even dreamed, or imagined. Man’s way, being so much greater than he is aware of is not in himself; he is not who he thinks he is. Man’s ways are the ways of God. Hints of this is seen when God in the form of Jesus would do various things that are staggeringly way beyond the known scope of man’s operating capabilities, and as men looked on in amazement, he’d often remark to them….where is your faith? He expected men to do the same things that he had done; in fact he has clearly stated to us his expectation that we would do the very same things, and even greater works than what he had done. The ways of man are the ways of God.
The exhortation to cease from man, is not limited to stop taking man’s advise; it goes even further when considered in context of similar exhortation in 2 Corinthians 5:16 —Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Because flesh, and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, we are asked to cease from operation out of the knowledge base of man that is born of woman, and needs the sustenance of this world to support that life. The man that is born of God, and is sustained by the life of God that is in all the words that precede form out of the mouth of God, is that knowledge base we are asked henceforth to walk in when we relate to other people, even though it were Christ we were relating to. Man’s ways are from above, not from below, his ways are in God; his ways are the ways of God….higher than the heavens are above the earth, so far removed as the east is from the west: above principalities, powers, might, and dominion of things named in the earth and in heaven.
Our ways began in the pit of mortal corruption, which is put off as we enter into Christ. In him we are restored to that rock from whence we are hewn. From time to time as we find ourselves overwhelmed by the challenges of life, we find God’s leading bringing us to that rock which is higher than our mortal limitations. God’s ways are higher than the ways of our mortal human nativity; and he leads us to those ways in Christ that are as high as the heavens are above the earth.
“Oh Lord, the way of man is not in himself. it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. Jeremiah 10:23
Cease ye from man whose breath is in his nostrils for wherein is he to be accounted of For behold the Lord the LORD of hosts doth take away from…Isaiah 2:22-3:7
For My thoughts are not your thoughts Nor are your ways My ways ” says the LORD “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth So are My ways. Isaiah 55:8-9
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. Ephesians 1:21
O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising , thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. 5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high , I cannot attain unto it. Psalms 139:1-6 …thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet. Job 13:27
