There can no comparison be made between Satan who tried to take God, and Jesus who gives us the gift God. God is a gift, given to Abraham four thousand years ago, and confirmed two thousand years later in Christ the seed of Abraham for all of humanity to receive, making Abraham the Father of many nations. As a person, God has given us himself but we have turned him into RELIGION: God, after the beauty of man…the wisdom of man…the strength, and measure of man…what man can do to keep himself spotless.
When God created man he gave him a job description, and told man exactly what he ought to do. Like Moses who being in the company of God began to glow so he had to put a veil over his face, man had a garment of light as a covering. Failing to keep integrity with God’s directives for him, man then had to reach for fig leaves having lost that glorious garment of light by transgressing God’s commandment of life.
Those fig leaves are a type of religion which man continues to seek instead of God’s perfect will. Jesus told us exactly what we ought to be doing…..his exactly explicit tradition of God’s work of reconciliation by the power of God raising the dead, healing the sick, preaching the gospel with signs following, yada, yada, yada. Instead of doing exactly that, we have instead in a sniveling cowardly way slipped into denial like Peter denying that Jesus was his master.
Jesus is the power of God, when you remove the power of God expressed by signs following, Christianity takes the shape of any other religion….a form of godliness; anxiously seeking to keep oneself pure and unspotted from the world, the soup kitchens, the walk for whatever cause, the homeless shelters, the prison ministries, the charity reliefs, the preaching the a powerless gospel, with no signs following, etc.
In the place here is was said of Jesus……and they were all healed, it is known of us…..there was none healed. The churches are packed with the sick, the infirmed, the dead and the dying. Cowering and sniveling before such things that Jesus had triumphed over and taught us to do also; even over the devil who had the power of death over us—no one calls for the power of God to raise the dead any more, not considering that we are a life-giving spirit. Though he ascended to the right hand of the Father two thousand years ago, Jesus is still the power of God, and where we do the ministry of reconciliation:
Soup kitchens, walk for whatever cause, homeless shelters, prison ministries, charity reliefs, preaching the gospel, etc, Jesus the power of God is to be demonstrated in real-time instead of pointing to him, as an enshrined religious relic. God is the God of the living not the God of the Dead. He is to be revealed in such work that we do so men can believe on God for the work’s sake, and have their faith stand in that power of God revealed in such work that we do reconciling the world.
There is a good, acceptable and perfect will of God. Religion is a form of godliness without the power of God. What man does to keep himself pure and unspotted from the world. All the soup kitchens programs, walk for whatever cause, homeless shelters, prison ministries, charity reliefs, preaching the gospel, etc, ……These are all good, why—even acceptable, but the works that God did in Jesus are perfect works, and such as he recommended for us but we have resigned ourselves to the fig leaf religion of what man can do without God. If you think for a moment that it is only believers are good you are mistaken. Ordinary people who make no claim of a God do good things too. The power of God in the works is where Jesus is revealed for the faith of man to stand therein.
