Where there are two or more competing entities seeking prominence there is necessarily a climate of anxiety that probably run the range form uneasiness, to given the right set of circumstances, full blown crisis mode. The story of Rebekah highlights this struggle that every believer is going to face as we move on from new born believers to the perfect man. We are all of us born with a core personality to which layers of control are added over time to help us navigate our socio-environmental sphere of influence. These are behavior modifications that we fine tune to be consistent with our social and environmental zones.
More than layers of behavior modifications, man actually needs the covering of the Lord from heaven, God’s gift of himself to man, making man a brand new complete creation. Old things are not just brought under control, they are passed away and all things are become new. It is no more the old man that lived but the new man who is Christ that lives. This is the source of man’s duality and ensuing conflict of personality. The new person doesn’t come as a mature entity and in the maturing process encounters confliction with the old former resident of that avatar who is resistant to being daily put to death so the new person of God can thrive.
Our human avatar is amazingly flexible and resilient. I have deliberately referenced the physical component of man’s triune being (body, and soul) as an avatar for his spirit the third component. His avatar is a movable or animated icon or symbol representing his spirit—The image bearer of God. The soul of man is a function of his organic physiological sensory endowment, establishing the identity of his physical presence on earth. By this
function he may know he is a man but cannot know God, for he cannot see God at any time. It allows him to know man that is tied to the earth and is sustained by the earth. His spirit however, so far as he acknowledges it, is not of this earth and has its birth from heaven. This is the Lord from Heaven, man’s new house. Without this accommodation in place man is naked.
These are the things that Paul says are hard to be uttered (spoken). It is hard to say that the sons of God are equal with God, but that’s what it means. That’s why when Jesus said he is the Son of God, the audience took up stones to stone him.
The things of God that God has prepared for man before the foundations of the world are unlawful for man to have in his current fallen state, compliments of Adam’s indiscretion. They are all the things that are to be his new house, without which he is naked before heaven. In a certain place it says we do not desire to be unclothed, but to be clothed upon by our house that is from heaven, while we are alive. We know as men that if our earthly house is dissolved in death, we have a more enduring mansion in heaven, but for now we are not anxious to have our earthly house dissolved in death but while we live to have our heavenly tabernacle come to us to be our clothing. Man must however, be transformed by having a new mind installed and brought on line before he can have those things which were deemed unlawful for him before his transformation. After his transformation he is a son of God. These are the things that Paul says are hard to be uttered (spoken).
If man has never nor can ever see God, how is he then going to do those things that he cannot see God doing as Jesus claimed he could see. This is the secret of God that is with the sons of God who are equal with God. For this to be so, man needs to be transformed by the renewing of his mind. They are a collective singularity, Christ being the head….. a complete unified entity.
It is hard to say that the sons of God are equal with God, but that’s what it means. That’s why when Jesus said he is the Son of God, the audience took up stones to stone him. They were dull of hearing even where John spoke of God coming to be with his own kind of beings. That’s what happens to us when God gives us the gift of himself. He comes to look for and fellowship with himself not for, and with his things, but with his own kind of beings. His gift is to make us like himself.
God once spoke of David as a man after his own heart. By so speaking of David, God is saying that David’s model of fellowship though not perfects is ideal because his leaning was perfect…..leaning towards God. In the direction that a tree leans that’s where it falls. God gives us credit according to the direction we are leaning in not necessarily because we got there but our aim is correct. Abraham’s aim was to sacrifice Isaac, God saw his aim was to follow through, and gave him credit for it though he never actually killed Isaac. If you’re heading for a northerly destination, and are facing Southwest, that kind of conflicting disposition cannot be reconciled with your goal. If you mean to sacrifice Isaac, but you put Ishmael on the alter that a major problem. You don’t plant corn and expect oranges.
Having learned She was going to give birth to twins was joyful news, but that didn’t explain the fly in her ointment. Rebekah pressed the Lord further for more answers as to why she was experiencing such awful afflictions. We often forget that God is quite willing to make things clear for us where there is no clarity. Jesus told us when he is gone he was going to leave his ministry of reconciliation for us to continue doing on earth, the things that he saw God his father doing in heaven. We know that man cannot do the works of God because no man can see God who is doing those works that God does. No man has at any time seen God. If man has never nor can ever see God, how is he then going to do those things that he cannot see God doing as Jesus claimed he could see. This is the secret of God that is with the sons of God who are equal with God. For this to be man needs to be transformed by the renewing of his mind. They are a collective singularity, Christ being the head….. a complete unified entity.
