BECAUSE HEAVEN CAN’T WAIT: Now Faith Is..—Part 2
Again our problem is that we don’t see the Bible as a practical document offering practical directives to men. This is how the truth continues to elude us. It’s right there hiding in plain sight, like King Author’s sword stuck in the stone and no one can handle it. Man’s eyes have never seen, nor their ears heard, nor can they speak it, because it’s not for man.
If God has offered us an indecipherable road map, then he’s got to be some kind of practical joker; I contend that he is not. If we don’t believe him, then we are going to interpret what he says as something other than what he said. If you don’t believe the source, then his message is equally unbelievable if not unreliable.
God is a gift given to man. God said to Abraham: Abraham, behold, I make a gift of myself to you; I am your exceeding great reward. Where this “exceeding great reward that is directed to us” applies to us, Paul writes in Ephesians:
He ceases not to give thanks for us, making mention of us in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of our understanding being enlightened ; that we may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe , according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named , not only in this world, but also in that which is to come : And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all. God’s exceeding great reward to Abraham and the exceeding greatness of his mighty power that is directed to us are the same thing. In one instance spoken to Abraham and now to us the seed of Abraham.
